Liquid Lipstick Tips and Tricks!

My first experience with Liquid Lipstick was in St Louis at our Younique Convention. They unveiled our new line of Splash Liquid Lipsticks, and handed us all one to try.  My first impression was that it was very smooth and velvety when applying, and it didn’t dry my lips out.  I also noticed how much more defined, full, and bold my lips looked with this beautiful matte liquid lipstick!   As a rookie, I made a few mistakes when applying this and have recently picked up some easy tricks to help you enjoy your liquid lipstick for hours!

TIP #1

Always exfoliate your lips first before applying the Liquid Lipstick. This is a matte product and will show every line and dry spot you have on your lips.  I love to use our Lip Exfoliator (click HERE to get it) made with sugar crystals and Shea butter.  It makes my lips feel incredible, and it tastes great!  I also apply a primer over the lips, and tap some Setting Powder (Click HERE for Setting Powder) as well over the top before applying any lipstick.  

TIP #2

Before applying your liquid lipstick, scrape the majority, I mean just about all of the lipstick off of the wand before applying.  A little of this really does go a long way!  Too much, and it will lead to flaking.  You want a smooth, clean look.

TIP #3

Start using the flat side of the wand and apply in the center of your lower lip and sweep from side to side filling in your lips.  You can pull your lips together to transfer to the top if you like.  I don’t think that a lip liner is needed with this product.  If you do use one, I would apply over the whole lip area to help increase the staying power of your lipstick.  To line your lips, the wand has a nice tip that is perfect for that!  Carefully line the bottom of your lip, then finish applying and lining the top lip.  You can also watch this great tutorial on how to apply it.   

TIP #4

I highly recommend that you lightly blot your lips.  This takes off any excess Lipstick, and leaves a smooth and gorgeous look.  Start by lightly pressing a tissue over the outside of your mouth.  

Next, open your mouth and insert tissue in and gently blot.
